No, ever since seeing episode 22 of 'Mai-Hime' I've wanted to draw this -- I figured 'Shizuru-as -Jigglypuff' would work great! Or at least be somewhat amusing to us ShizNat lovers! :)

*Sigh* -- no, you didn't have any *excuse* not to! It's like saying you're against blood donation, you stupid git!! That's right -- there's a complete lack of reasonable explanations for supporting it.

Why be against gay marriage? I don't get it.

It's discrimination -- if you voted YES on Prop 8, it's discrimination.

Simoun - Girl-loving in the sky too!

Simoun! Simoun! Simoun!

Ah...okay. Pheew, I went 'marathon' on this anime --- sat down and saw it in its entirety through two days *straight*! No, wait, let me rephrase that -- sat down and saw all 26 episodes in two days *queer*! Now, that's much better! And a lot more true. ;)

This was... a great anime. Really. I had only heard positive remarks concerning it to start with, so, now it was only a question of finding out what my own opinion was, I guess...

I can only recommend it. I'm not going to talk about it, because that would be the same as if I tried talking about Buffy. And, okay, I *know* that BtVS has seven years on it, and Simoun doesn't, and can't even be compared, but...

The series is plot-driven. The cast is big and interesting; the interactions between the different persons are what makes you keep watching. Things you have to watch yourself to appreciate it.

The only times I was bored during through it all was during some of the fights, but that's what the fast-forward button is for! ;)

I feel pressed to throw some fanfics after Simoun now -- among the 10.000 of other things I need to write. = =;; I will come around to it, at some point.

So. I'm going to say it again:

I recommend Simoun. That means -- go watch it.

Similarities -- Yami to Boushi & KnM

Haven't you always wondered exactly *what* the exact similarities between Yami to Boushi and KnM are?

No? Well, I have.

And here they are, the ones I could find:

Episode 1:

Damn, there were a lot of things just in the first episode.

* The very first picture of the two of them, where Hatsuki holds Hatsumi to her chest. Exactly the same way we are introduced in KnM to our two main characters.

* They are standing nearby a tree --- compare with the tree in Chikane's and Himeko's secret rose garden.

* Hatsumi gets her wrist cut with the letter opener by a distressed Hatsuki, who afterwards bandages the wound --- compare with KnM's episode 10, where Himeko returns to the mansion with her wounded hand, only to find Chikane, who also bandages her hand.

* The scene of Hatsumi and some unknown boy kissing beneath an umbrella, and Hatsuki looking at them from a safe distance. Uhm --- episode 7 of KnM, anyone?

* Hatsuki watching Hatsumi sleeping and leaning down to steal a kiss --- that's episode 5 of KnM.

* Hatsuki's childhood memory of crying and having her hair stroked by Hatsumi --- if they had made the two girls wear miko robes and placed a blood-smeared katana near them, it would be frighteningly accurate to the scene in KnM's episode 12.

Episode 6:

* The scene of Miruka asking Hatsuki if she could sleep in her bed. Himeko even *holds* her pillow the same way to her face like this girl does.

Hey, it's Chikane and Hi -- no, wait a sec, it ain't!

Episode 7:

* Hatsumi and Hatsuki listen to Yami to Boushi's theme song on a mp3 player together. Fourth Neck of the Orochi, Korona, listens to Re-Sublimity (KnM's theme song) in episode 3 of KnM.

* Hatsuki's habit of eating completely alone during lunch break reminded me a lot of another tall, dark, brooding girl who's in love with a blonde girl as well...

Episode 8:

* Hatsuki and Fuji-hime meet, and the bishoujo is told the story of the comb. Fuji-hime gives the comb to Hatsuki. Himeko gives the hair clip to Chikane. Both series obviously have some fetish with hair.

Episode 10:

* Marieru-hime appears again...this time as a maid. The thing is: her hairstyle looks *quite* similar to Otoha-san's.

Yami to Boushi to Hon Ginormous Boobies no Tabibito

Just look at that: Hatsuki's a whole *head* taller! Hatsumi is a friggin' dwarf.

Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito.

Why you would want to watch it: uh, well, that one's easy --- *Hatsuki!* The one character and reason why you should even bother with this series in the first place. Or, I guess, if you have a thing for very big breasts, which...uh, I don't necessarily have.

Observations:

* Is it just me, or did I spot some good potential chemistry between Hatsuki and Youko Sumeragi (the sexy purple-haired agent on the train) in the second episode? Aah -- I sees me a sensei/student relationship of some kind! *grins*. Now, *that* would have been nice to see acted upon!

* Hatsuki is the biggest woobie in the world and I love her for it!! I think it says a lot that the only times she even lets her guard down just a little is either around children (Miruka in episode 6 and Reira in episode 11) or people that are basically innocent at heart (Kuiru in episode 5 and Fuji-hime in episode 9) -- and yet, the writers still decided it was okay to treat her the way they did...*deep sigh*

* Hatsumi doesn't deserve Hatsuki's devotion. End of sentence.

* The end...is not good. *Gasp*! Yes, I realise I am the first person *ever* to write this (read: sarcasm) but that was just bad episode writing! I mean -- ''Tell Girl Who Has Only Shown Signs of Being Gay that Thou Shall Return as Her Childe''... Uhm. Excuse me - *What the Fucking Fuck?!* And if *that* isn't enough -- and this is what made me go EVEN MORE WTF was when Hatsumi, placing the book back on its shelf with an air of finality to it, turns and looks at Ririsu, who's wearing a soft 'you-did-the-right-thing-Sis' expression... only to end up lying on the floor with her seconds later, clothes askew, after a round of ''Monkey-Ass Incestuous Sex'' -- as far as I interpret it! GARGH.

The Best Parts Found in Yami to Boushi:

Episode 6: The part where Ririsu, Hatsuki, Seiren, the tiger and Miruka are walking back to the villa, and the ensuing conversation Miruka has with Hatsuki. Sooo *adorable*! Hatsuki's blush and evasive answering made me smile from delight -- and watching ep 7 afterwards made me realise just how utterly gay she is, just from this.

Episode 7:
Hatsuki's story. We get to see how deep her attraction towards Hatsumi actually is. Poor woobie! The masturbation scene was worth seeing alone.

Episode 9:
The part where Hatsuki rests her head in Fuji-hime's lap -- the weary warrior allowing herself a moment of peace. Aaawww. Plus, the hug between them on the bridge before they part!

Episode 13:
The kiss -- dammit, because Hatsuki at least deserved some lip service!!

Number of 'Saved Damsels in Distress' Throughout the Series:

1. Kuiru (from episode 4)
2. Miruka (from episode 6) -- ok, technically it was the tiger that saved her, but Hatsuki *did* jump in after her, so, I still think it counts! ;)
3. Meirin (from episode 8)
4. Fuji-hime (in the very next ep, 9)
And the bonus fifth place:
5. Hatsumi! Hatsuki went out on her journey in the first place in order *to* save her, so...

Point: You don't save this many girls, succesfully or not, if you're a girl yourself, in the hopes of making yourself appear *straight*! That's all I'm saying... :)

Number of Times Ririsu Tries to Get in Hatsuki's Panties Throughout the Series:

Uhm... Eeh...Can I answer that question later some time?

And, another thought that wouldn't leave me alone after viewing Yami to Boushi again:

People exposed to souma turn... queer?

First of all: Souma is the green stuff coming off Hatsumi's body everytime she turns 16 and leaves for another world.

No, I'm totally serious about this. Think about it:

Those exposed to souma:

1. Hatsuki in episode 1. But she was gay before being sprayed with it, so my theory is - it simply made her gayer. I'm a lesbian scientist. :)

2. Garuganchuan in episode 3. Yes, I know he started looking for Jiru to make her come with him to his castle -- but you're not going to make me believe someone who does *that many* pointless ballet poses completely out of the blue is straight. Look at the way he dresses, for Chrissake! And the roses...

3. Ritsuko in episode 3. Exposed to it at the same time Garuganchuan was. The two of them end up together later, but in the meantime --- the way she had to cure Marieru-hime of her sickness: ''Don't worry -- my souma-infected tongue will make you better in no time! Just relax while I French you. This is totally a part of my magic healing powers...healing.''

You can see I have given this a lot of thought.

What's to Come...

I'm currently anticipating the arrival of three animes I have ordered: Simoun, Kiddy Grade and Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito.

Of the mentioned three, I *have* already seen Yami to Boushi -- so, as could be expected, I'm more excited about watching the other two, to see what they're all about *g*. One subtext, the other...not so much. Will comment on the series once I got them between my greedy paws.

I'll probably post an entry about all the similarites and differences btw Yami and its younger cousin - KnM, too. Oh, and, stuff to come on the latter mentioned, I assure.

Also busy with editing photos of our lovely ladies of various yuri fandoms. Post 'em...sometime.

Yea, second post.

That's progress. Right, after having let Shizuma have the word, it's time for me to say something...

Uhm. I have mah very own Livejournal site, (probably like 99% of the world's population now), where I intend to post all my fanfics -- movies, series and animes, their content being --- girlxgirl! That's lesbian stuff, if you weren't paying attention, so, if that aint your thing, then...you should just probably back away. Now.

This blog will be the place where I write about yuri animes, series and movies, plus... other stuff. Good word: 'stuff'. Avoids describing anything, really.

Eh. So, there's fanfics on my Livejournal, rants about yuri/femslash here, and...I'm also over at Youtube. Reviewing music videos and amvs of different fandoms. Username is HyenaSkull there.
